Hello from Varna, Bulgaria

Post by ivan_j »

Hello from Bulgaria.
From a month ago I'm a lucky owner of a japanese imported 1996 KDX220.
Image
Also have an old 1983 XL600R.

Both bikes are really fun to ride, everyone have it's advantage on specific terrain.

RedBull Bulgaria are bulsh*ts!
They don't want to sponsor enduro and ATV championship.

Some of these places are forbiden for vehicles, don't even think about races there. Here in Bulgaria in last years politicians sold many many land to private owners, and now very often we see closed fire roads, paths, tracks, even the forests are fence up. They want to change game-law to restrict vehicles in hunting zones(but every forest, every mountain is hunting zone).

Here are information about our most famouus enduro competition in English:

Welcome. Definitely enjoyed almost all the pics. Not so much the one for KDXQuebec. It is truly a pleasure to see other countries that are so beautiful when you know you may never get the chance to travel there...much less, ride there! I saved the one with the sunrays bursting through the clouds. Gorgeous. Yep, you got it. I'm a girl...totally went around your ride and headed straight to the picturesque scenery ... imagine that!

Anyway, welcome to the site. Good to have ya.

Hi from Vancouver!! Looks like it rains there, too!!

Kinda have something in common with ya!! As both of us are 'rippin' around on a KDX 220 and an XL600. Fun bikes! No replacement for displacement!

The XL only gets a bit heavy when you slow down and start dabbing with your feet, in my opinion. Hope your leg is strong enough to kick it, especially when hot.

Thanks for the scenery shots......great to see

With the right boots on kicking is no problem
Also with the right carburator, valves and decompresor tuning.
She starts at halfway cold or hot. Only after droping she wants to SCAVENGE. Thankfuly there is deco.

Welcome. Thanks for the cool pics. Your new KDX should do great in that terrain. Give us a ride report when you get her out and do one of those rides.

After some months of exploataion  i've found that kdx have no power in low rpms, just like cross bike. And fuel consumption is enormous - 20 mpg regardless of riding style - even at 4000-5000 rpms.
Today I realise why - exhaust valves are MISSING :? Left one is there but at half - broken, but the right one is missing. Some stupid previous owner doesn't want to give $200 for them. But gave $ for stupid thing like IMS footpegs. Stupid because kickstart lever hit the footpeg and 2 weeks ago brokes :? We welded it, but...
So now I'm looking for second hand exhaust valves, because new are too expensive, even i'm purchasing them from US - $100 for both and $100 more for shipping and taxes. If anyone have unwanted valves and want to send to me, I'll make money transfer to him. Thanks in advance folks.

P.S. The valves are 12005 and 12005a in the parts list below

I just found this thread and know its old but my wife is Bulgarian, she's from Dobrich and we have a place in Varna.Did you find the valves yet ? I know its been a while but if you need any parts from the US let me know as I'd be happy to bring them when I come on the 4th.Or I can have a friend ship them to me there.Anyway hope to hear from you as I'd love to learn where to ride near varna.
