New KDX Owner - Illinois
Hi Ya'll- I've been lurking on the forum for several weeks and now I'm ready to introduce myself.
I just purchased a 94 KDX200. I've done the required maintenance based on the suggestions from the threads.
My bike is running well and looks pretty cool too. The only little glitch I haven't worked out is a stuck pin on my odometer.
I cannot seem to re-set the Trip mileage. I may dismantle it and try and see where the hang up is.
Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forums! Thanks for joining and participating.
I think the little adjuster just slightly pulls out. Is it missing? I think they fall off a bit too easily.
Can you post a picture of the knob?

Re: New KDX Owner - Illinois
welcome aboard the board. I was a member but seemed to lurk for 12 years. I had some issue with my tripmeter but whatever it was went away after i lubed the cable by pulling it out of the line. I cleaned all the rust looking grime off and slicked it up and reinserted it. I cleaned the plastic piece at the hub really well too.
Anyway, while cable was off and out,I sprayed some lube into the housing(gears/numbers) but not so much that it hit the sight window. I then shot tiny bursts of air into the housing and knocked some more grit loose and shook it out. I tend to overdo most things so I was very cognizant of the delicate internals (which must be fairly rugged considering the age and abuse they get every ride) in order to not blow it apart or dislodge the wrong piece.
It now works very smoothly,no wierd noises, and when starting it over it rolls ever so well back to Zero.
I have no idea if that is the proper way to address the tripmeter but the lube sure doesn't hurt.

I replaced the cable with a brand new one and it appears that the odometer works and rolls over but the Reset knob on the "Trip" side won't reset. I haven't jumped into lubing and cleaning the odometer yet but based on the suggestion above I may give it a shot. I was hoping that by riding some miles and having the numbers turn would loosen it all up but the little side knob still doesn't re-set the numbers.

That is it. I thought it just pulled out a little, then could roll the numbers back and then it went back in. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Correct. Pull the knob out, and turn. Push the knob back in.
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Re: New KDX Owner - Illinois
Guys good news, I was able to do a good clean out and a lube to the odometer and it is all working great. The Trip meter knob works again too.
What I discovered was if you remove the odometer from the bike there are 2 spots that appear to be meant for lubrication. I cleaned out the dirt and sprayed the the lubricant and Voila! all works well again. I should mention that I had already purchased a new cable. Cheers!
