I purchased a 83-85 kdx200 it's rather rough around the edges and some scars run deeper than others

Sorry for the late reply guys been working on the bike a lot since I got it, Managed to get it running just a few days ago after parts and multiple trips to the hardware store but haven't got to ride yet still some issues with the bike and myself just got released from hospital had my appendix removed so can't do anything right now but I do have pictures

when I first got it after research it is a 1984 KDX 200 with black frame red plastics I think someone replaced the tank I dunno
Image

pulled the motor checked the bottom end (all good down there yay) and converted over to a 1999 kx 250 Kickstarter thanks to a post here on the forum
Image

had to wait on the new cylinder but finally got it along with a Pro X 01.4285.A
Image

sanded, zip tie stitch cracked plastics and rattle canned the plastics just to make it look better and it runs but the carb is in bad condition floats keep sticking and flooding
Amazingly it is the factory carb 1984 Mikuni 34mm but needs to be replaced
Image

Had to buy a full 1984 factory exhaust off of eBay due to previous owner welding a tiny scooter muffler to the expansion chamber
still needs parts but I'm out of action for a while so hopefully soon

still needs chain and sprockets and 2 chain rollers it also needs a new collar and o rings on the output shaft grips seat cover and fork seals wheel bearings I am unsure of haven't checked them swingarm is good no play and I'm looking at options on the carb filter is in really good condition (surprisingly) but it runs using non ethanol 90 octane with pennzoil outdoor at 32:1 oh and I need to source a sprocket cover for the engine side

Sorry to hear about your appendix.

Good luck on the build. The little metal guard for the front sprocket from a 1988+ might fit. I am not sure.

I must say I am sorry to see you spray painted a red KDX. Forgive me for being a purist.

well the good part is it can easily be returned to red but the only red tank I had found was very expensive but then again I think the red kdx might have been rare?

KDX's were made from 1979 - 2006. 1984 was the only year with a red color option.
