New KDX Owner

Hey all, I got this 2001 KDX220R recently off craigslist. The former owner is a 20 year old kid that raced dirt scrambles on it. I changed the radiator coolant and put Ice in there. I also rewired the headlight with a new (ebay used) switch and scored a old tool bag. I took it to the trails a couple weeks ago and nice the rear brake squeaking badly. I realized the pads were spent and the rotor was all grooved out. I bought new stuff and attempted to replace them today. I got all but one of the rotor bolts out. The other Allen hole was stripped so I welded a nut to it and got it out. Local Advance Auto, Hardware store, and Tractor supply was a no go. Where can I get another one? I also was putting it back together and can't get the caliper back right. Which manual should I order? I didn't see a "R" version. Anyway, glad to be here.

I can't figure out how to post a pic

Welcome to kdxrider.net. Congratulations on the KDX220R.

Almost all of the parts are the same on the 1997 - 2005 KDX220R as they are to the 1995 - 2006 KDX200. The manual for the 1995 - 2006 KDX200 is the "base manual" for the KDX220R. There is a small supplement manual for the KDX220R. It shows about the carburetor and cylinder. Look on my page at www.kdxgarage.com and look under the KDX manuals section. It will show the parts numbers.

Do you have a local Kawasaki dealer?

www.partzilla.com is a great place for online OEM parts.

The site has no ads and lives off of donations. Supporting members can attach photos or you can host the pictures on another site and then just put a link in the thread.

Thanks! I just donated. There isn't a dealer in my county but there is within an hour. Thanks for all the info.

The site administrator should see the e-mail notice soon and get you set up on the changes.

I see you are in southern MD. Check out the upcoming MX race at Budd's Creek if you want to watch some great MX racing. I have been there 3 times. It is great.
