New kdx220 rider hello!!!

Post by Black-swan »

Hey guys,

My name is Heather. I'm from Wales in the uk.

I've just bought myself a 99 kdx220. Its had some mods done, rebuilt forks and rear shock, kx250 2001 forks, engine rebuild with a wiseco piston, full FMF exhaust system, new plastics, new seat power coated frame, new tyres, powdercoated rims etc. I've bought it from away, so a bit of a risk but I trust the seller and the bike looks really good. Hopefully should arrive this week or next week, in the meantime I'll be lurking around here trying to absorb as much info as I can.

I've been riding trials for about 2 years,I've got a 4rt, I've had a beta rev3 before that, otherwise I don't have much experience with two strokes. I've bought the bike as a complement to the trials, I want to learn a slightly different style, do some green landing and generally have some higher speed fun. I found 4 stroke enduro bikes a tad heavy and big physically, I think the kdx should be easy to pick up and the ideal bike to learn new skills on.

Anyways, nice to be on here :)

Thanks guys :D I've already ordered a spare saprk plug and some 2 stroke oil. I'm guessing 40:1 is the way to go? I've had a two stroke trials bike before, but never a bike like this. Its going to be fun to learn to ride. There is so much info on here, its great. This bike has already come with a wiseco piston, FMF pipe and a front kx250 fork conversion, should be ready to ride when she gets delivered hopefully, can't wait

Hey mark, the previous owner put the frame guard on there, so not sure where you'd get one from, sorry. Thanks Julian  heather

Hello Heather & welcome....

Nice kdx you have, I'm sure I've seen it before & believe the previous owner was a member here, Adam from Poole in Dorset ?

Wales has some great riding, myself & friends sometimes stay in Rhydar ( élan valley ) & use a guide called "Clive the guide" ...he knows the area like the back of his hand & the rides range between 80 to well over 100 miles per day! Well recommended

Hi kdxspoke, I don't know what size the tyre is, still waiting on my delivery company.

Hi Cornish I bought the bike from a fella in Northumberland, he bought the bike from the chap in Dorset, and has had some work done since buying it. Thanks for the heads up re rhyader. Is it OK if I give you a shout sometime to get in touch with 'clive the guide'? Thanks
