New Member, smokey exhaust.
hi from UK, bought my KDX new in '91 enduroed it for years with no issues. Now after a few years in storage i need to give it a good going over. Main thing is that it appears to smoke a lot from exhaust. Ive read some posts about crank seals but they don't seem to separate the gearbox from the crank as they are on the sides? I'm thinking of replacing the reeds, cleaning out exhaust and removing air box top. Any other suggestions welcomed. Many thanks.

The RH crank seal does indeed separate the gearbox from the crankcase. If you have excessive smoke and are losing trans oil that's a pretty good indication of a failed RH crank seal.
