Son's kdx 220. Wants it to look like an MX bike.

My son rides with some buddies who mostly own Hondas. Either 150RB's or some of them had moved up to crf450r's. They seem to be common here and available used for a reasonable price. I personally don't think they make a great trail bike, and it's not a bike I'd want to be handling myself in the woods let alone giving it to my 15 year old to do the same.

So he's outgrown his kx100 and taken over my 2004 kdx220. Of course he wants it to look more like an MX bike, and not a "dual purpose" (his buddies call anything with a headlight a dual purpose, and with disdain of course lol :)

Anyways, I figured we could make the kdx look somewhat like an mx bike to suit his taste. A black fender, gfx kit and of course Maier rear fender. I think all I need now are some black Warp 9 wheels (in progress) and some inverted forks to complete the look (maybe next season).

I just bought a 2nd kdx 220 (2003) for myself since he's taken over this one. I'm going to keep it a bit more traditional. I figure he'll be jealous of my headlight one of these days :)

Bike looks good. My son wants me to do the same with his now.
Skip the Warp9's and just PC the stock Excels.

the bike felt and rode like an 88 kx125 (with more power) since the seating positing kinda felt similar to my memory. I traded it to a 97 RM250 and now wish Id kept it.

Drop that 220 motor in a '01-04 KX125 roller and you're done!
