New kdx rider here in michigan

Post by Jfk393 »

Well I have found my way back to the woods side of the world. My old man used to take me riding in the trails of Michigan way back on my z50. That evolved into a long mx career that was more fun that I can type here, but ended with lots of injuries and a less than desirable outcome to a 125 outdoor national series back in 2000. So now I have decided to get my old dad back to the woods! I picked up (2) kdx 200's. One is a 1989 and the other is a white 1991. Both seem to run very well, the 1991 has a flat spot in the middle that I need to figure out. The po says he just rebuilt it so should be simple. One question I have is where to get replacement carb holder/ intake boots and both seem to need front wheel bearings, probably from age. Anywho, love the site!

might have to let me know what you want for them anyways......the two I have are in good shape, I updated bars, grips, hand gaurds, and gave them a good bath. they both are good bikes but a little newer would be good from the suspension point of view!

I grew up racing MX in Michigan - Baja Acres, Mustang and Milam Friday nights! Also, we have a cabin in northern MI and rode countless miles of DNR trails. Welcome and good choice on the KDXs.

I rode Baja quite a bit in the late 90's. Midpack 125 C rider. Last time I "raced" there was a stock KDX220 with a dual sport kit. At least I wasn't last. Freelin MX was another favorite. And lots of riding up north. Grandparents even had a MX track for a while. Unused the last 8-10 years though. Tried to resurrect it 2 years ago, but needs some serious work (very overgrown and erroded). Always preferred trails anyway, and the property is a short run down the road from some fun loops (Big Bear and Crapo).
