I got my first dirtbike! Wanted a green dirtbike ever since I was a little kid. Finally smartened up and went out and found one! This one has a great reputation on the internet and this community is an amazing resource. No real questions or concerns yet, things have been going relatively smoothly, and there's a mechanic that helps me out and does work with me. But when issues arise I'll be here first for sure! Hope the picture works here. I spent some time on stickers. Whatever I was excited.

Nice bike! Looks close to stock, just make sure the piston isn't [emoji16]. Hard to go wrong with the KDX. Then again I'm a bit biased.

First bike! 03 kdx 220
I bought it from the original owner who didn't ride it too much. He didn't mention a rebuild so I assume it's all stock. Compression is 130 so I'm hoping to be trouble free all summer. What compression would be time for a new piston and rings ?

The stock 220 piston is known to fail, so regardless of how well it's running now it would be good to know if the PO swapped it out and if not it's a good idea for you to. Much more expensive to deal with a piston that drops it's skirt into your bottom end [emoji33]. Not a big deal to put in a new position and worth every penny of prevention.
130 psi is near the bottom end of the range (if memory serves, but others will know better), so in many respects a new top end would'nt hurt.

Replace the piston or you will be sorry. Do a search on here for 220 piston and you will see.

At the very least, it's time for new rings; however, being a 220 and previous maintenance unknown means its time to put in a aftermarket piston yesterday.
