KDX rider from northern Michigan

Post by bone7615 »

Hello i'm Jordan I have a 1996 KDX I bought last June and I'm lovin it! This is my first dirt bike and I felt like I made a great choice. This bike is a breeze to work on. In my opinion it is a fantastic trail bike and a true joy to ride. I was very surprised with how good the bike does in sugar sand. I like the bike so much that I am doing a full restoration on it this off season. I'm about half way done and its looking great. I live in northern Michigan in the heart of ORV country and theirs plenty of room to get some dirt. Its a great place to ride if anybody gets the chance.
If you had a choice to date supermodels for the rest of your life or ride dirt bikes, would you choose a 2-stroke or a 4-stroke?

Upload them to a site like Photobucket, then copy the "Direct link" and past it in between the img tags that pop up if you hit the little img button at the top of the post.

That's the short version. Let me know if you need more help.

Funny story. I went to the motor sports store to get a kick stand and the guy told me to find a tree.

The bike has been a lot of work so far. I wish I had a before picture. Every thing had to be sand blasted and painted. I don't know what to do about the plastics, there not in terrible shape no breaks but they are all scratched up bad. I was thinking about painting them but I do a lot of trail riding and I'm worried about the paint not holding up.

Search the site, there have been some recent posts about refinishing the plastics.

No problem.
I would have posted a link but I was on my phone. Makes it kinda hard.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing to my tank shrouds.

Try a heat gun on the plastic.

Nice looking so far. Look forward to more posts. I grew up in Farmington Hills, MI and we had (still have) a cabin in Gaylord. Did a ton of riding on the DNR trails. Best dirt ever IMO. Hoping to head north with the family this summer. I will definitely pull the trailer to bring all the toys!

Just do us a favor and don't paint the plastics. You can get awesome graphics for 100 bucks depending on where you buy them from. The paint just never holds up and then is a giant pain to get off

Ya its great riding. I have trail access from my back yard, its a very rider friendly place to live. It is legal to ride ORVs on the public roads even, no plate or insurance required. I wish I would of moved here 30 years ago.
