Hi guys and girls! About 7 months ago I've bought myself a 2005 KDX 200. I'm now busy rebuilding it after the piston skirt broke. Thanks for the great site!

Thanks! I'm doing a total rebuild now from the wheels up. I'm getting the frame/chassis and swing arm powder coated this week.

I'm rather work on a 2-Stroke before I work on a 4 - stoke. Valve clearances, valve timing, shimming etc. etc. etc. just to name a few 4T gremlins.

True enough. For the record I meant literally, there are gremlins in your motor chewing on your piston!

So were you just riding one day and all of a sudden it started "crackle and pop" or did you purchase it in this condition?

Btw, you can measure across the piston to find the bore size. 66mm = standard 200 bore. 69mm = standard 220 bore. And that appears to be a factory piston.

I've measured the piston it is in the 66mm range. How the piston ended up looking like that is a long story, but it turns out my poor bike died in my workshop after a ride. Luckily for me I was not on her when she gave her final strokes.

Thanks! I see that you have a 200 and the 250. What color is that 250's frame?
