Hello All...obviously a noob to the forum, but looking forward to being able to learn and contribute.

I'm a 43-year-old just returning to the dirt. In my teenage years I bashed through the woods on an '85 IT200, then switched to street bikes from College through to present-day.

As someone who was raised on the West coast before hitting the Great Lakes in my adolescence, Michigan winters have always sucked to me, so I got in a habit of buying a basket case every late Summer or early Autumn to rebuild through the "dark days." I'd ride it through the summer and sell it off for the next season's project.

Anyway, I now have two kids who have been hooked on dirt bikes (youngest son got to go to a local MX track for his first spectator-day a month ago). Since he's into it, and since I'm honestly tired of dodging cagers with a cell in one hand and a bagel in the other, I decided to get back to the woods.

I just picked up a '92 KDX250 as a starting point for my return less than 24 hours ago. I'll make sure to put a triage/restoration/upgrade thread together. Looking forward to getting good info, meeting some other woods-guys from this area and doing some virtual bench-racing.

Hello, and welcome to kdxrider.net. Congratulations on your KDX250 purchase.

Typically, there are no cars in the woods to dodge, just trees.

Will do, though it will be in the spring. I'm going to take my time and really do this bike right...not to mention getting myself in shape. Cedar creek sounds like a plan...looking forward to the "social side" of the community and introducing my son to that aspect of riding.

the social side is pretty solid
I don't think think I have ever ridden anywhere without running into other KDXers
