New to the forum, first KDX

Post by wrpracing13 »

Hey everyone, my name is James. I'm just getting back into riding and picked up a 1993 KDX200 for a cool $875. Obviously she needs a bit of work, mostly cosmetic. The bike runs great and is mechanically sound. My biggest issue right now is finding MX style plastics for it and fork guards. Does any one know what model rear fender, number plate, and fork guards bolt up to this year bike? I was looking at KX500 stuff from the same year and later KX fork guards but any help before I make a purchase would be appreciated.

Hopefully, will be doing a few scrambles with it this summer.

Here a few pics:

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on your KDX.

For fork guards, you may want to try the stock guards. I am not sure about other models fitting it.

UFO makes some aftermarket plastic for it, including a front fender, rear fender with light, side panels and radiator shrouds.
Thank you for participating on kdxrider.net. :bravo:

Thanks for the reply. I was planning on UFO for most of the things. I couldn't find anybody that made fork guards for this year, but now I see you can still get them as an OEM part. The current number plate on it looks to be from a KX of that year. Now I just need to find a rear fender that works. Definitely want to go with a MX style.

If you are able to get your hands on a kx250 rear fender, they are MX style and can be modified to fit an E series!

I haven't done the mod yet, but plan to one day. So I kept that picture tutorial when I found it.

The tutorial is for a KX500 but I think the KDX200 and KX500 use the same frame or at least the same rear sub frame

klx fork guards will fit. pretty much any fork guard from a 41mm KYB USD fork. I currently have fork guards from 43mm KYB. a little trimming is required but they fit good and look good. I have a set of newer KTM guards that wrap around the whole lower fork, and they look pretty close except for one bolt hole, but I haven't actually fit them yet. the klx guards look way better than the factory 93-94 guards.

99-02 kx125 rear fenders look very good to and there about 10 bucks cheaper.

As far as front end goes you have to get the 12 kx450f fender and number plater cuz those thing look awesome on our bikes
