Hi, my name is Carl. I used to ride every day when I was 13-15, but due to the hard times my bike was the first to go. It has been roughly 8 years, and I have finally managed to secure myself a bike. I am a gear-head, I do all of my own work to all my vehicles. I just recently picked up a 1989 KDX200, motor is in great shape, but the carb is way out of tune. Forks were blown, tires were flat, it needed love.

This is how it looked when I got it:

First ride at the track to assess the bikes overall condition

Getting some new parts (tires, fork seals, carb rebuild, chain/sprockets, plastics

And this is how it sits currently. 2013 KX250f front fender and generic Acerbis light incase I get caught after dark.

I get my green sticker for it tomorrow, and plan to either take to the trails in the Cajon Pass (san bernardino national forest), or to the track right down the street (CEMX, Hesperia).

Thats about it for me, I'm not one for big introductions, so HI!

Welcome to the site.

That bike looks like it is in great shape.

Looks good but you should re-route the front brake line to the inside of the left side fork leg. Too easy to snag something and then lose your front brakes the way it is now.

Been a few years. I will make a new thread for the mods. Here is a teaser. Can anyone guess what I did?

Fork swap.

And a swingarm swap with a 19" rear. Notice the kickstand plate missing?

1990 kx 125/250 direct bolt on. I scored a frame for cheap that came with the forks, but I belive the forks are KLX650 as the kx250 brake pads do not fit the caliper.

Guess I will just log my progress here, I don't see any other place to do so.

This is when I was making sure the wheel would fit in the fender
