Hi from SW UK... New KDX 220 Owner
Hi y'all
Picking-up a not-so-shiny 1994 KDX 220 tomorrow - think it's a US import (I'm UK based), after a long'ish stint away from dirt/trial riding.
Will post-up a few pics when I get it home.
Can't wait to check it over and head for the hills!

Congrats, and welcome to KDXRIDER! Something to be aware of, the KDX220 was not released until 1997. Your 1994 is probably a KDX200 or 200/250SR. Some pics will help us identify it for you.

Thanks Jason... seller is stating a 1994 MY 220. Got me thinking now - is there any way of distinguishing the 200 220 250 variants?

Re: Hi from SW UK... New KDX 220 Owner
Displacement should be stamped on the cylinder. 198cc for the 200, 216cc for the 220, and I think 249cc for the 250. Also the 95+ 200 / 97+ 220 looks quite a bit different from the 89-94 (e-series) 200. The e bikes are single down tube, while the later model 200/220 are perimeter framed.

Re: Hi from SW UK... New KDX 220 Owner
Just for info. The KDX220 was released in the UK in 94. Quite a rare bike. It should have the USD forks the 94 200 and 250 had.

Nice looking bike Uggski... the one I'm picking-up today looks very similar, but has RWU forks with gators, not USD's like yours. It does have a perimeter frame, but it's finished in factory green.
The seller has stated it's an import (US, I think?), and is certain it's a '94 220. It's all a bit confusing, but I guess I'll discover what the true story is in a couple of hours time.

I think the frame and engine numbers should also start with 220, mine do, but I'm not sure about the American ones. I'm pretty sure the previous poster is right though. The 220 was not released in the US until 97.

If it's a 220, and a 94, it's not a US model. Nothing wrong with that!

Re: Hi from SW UK... New KDX 220 Owner
So... just picked the KDX up and...
It's a Jap import, so the seller informs me.
Cylinder cast stamped 0.216l (so, 220cc)
Frame No: DX220A-XXXXX4
Eng No: DX220AE - XXXXX2
Any idea(s) on model year?!
Lovely looking bike too, I'm chuffed.
In in Monmouthshire, UK - Chepstow area.

If it is a 220 then the year isn't that important. At least in the US. They were the same from 97-05. Post a pic if you get a chance. It looks like the forks might be the biggest difference. Is the gas tank plastic or steel?

Plastic tank... just had confirmation from KMUK that it's a '94 220 Japanese market bike.
