Hi everyone,
I'm a new (er) rider and a longtime lurker and just picked up an 89 200 a couple weeks ago for $540. It needed tires, clutch cable, throttle cable, front wheel bearings, rear brake pads and hose.
It came with an fmf pipe and an isde silencer as well as a skid plate.
I pulled the exhaust when I bought it and the L side kips isn't working.
I cleaned the carb and got it running and it starts at about 2-3 kicks!
Couldn't be happier, I want to do some hare scrambles later in the year.
Stoked to be on the site with very good trails right out my back door.
I come from a mountain biking background, I was a bicycle mechanic and xc rider, downhill and road aswell( My wife and I still do ride. I hope that some of my skills on a bicycle transfer over to the kdx so I can learn to ride better
Looking forward to talking to you all

Welcome, and congrats. I have an 89 as well :). That LH subvalve breakage plagues the E series bikes. I have replaced mine several times. There are some tweaks you can do when you install to help it last longer. My last one has held up much better.

One of the guys I ride with regularly came from a mountain bike background. He is insanely fast on the downhills, and attributes that to his bicycling experience. So yes, that will help :).

Good luck with it!

Calabogie eh? You need to get some Supermoto wheels for that thing and take it to the road-race track! My buddy rode Calabogie and said it`s an awesome track...if you`re into that sorta thing....if not have fun in the dirt.

Welcome by the way

Yeah the road track here is good, Not the most motorcycle friendly as some of the runnouts are shorter but it's smooth and fast. I have a friend who has a bike who rides it. But I'm just a dirt boy.

Thanks for the warm welcome fella's
I'll see if I can post some pics of the rig as I'm not sure which fmf pipe I have.

I can make out the words Gold Series on the FMF pipe. Maybe someone else will chime in but I'm guessing it's a Fatty?
I'm digging the seat on the DR!
