New KDX owner in Connecticut

Post by mad419iou1 »

Hi everyone. I just picked up a new to me 1997 KDX 200. Going to be my first dirt bike since 1998....so it should prove to be a very interesting experience. I rode atv's for a few years recently and still ride my cruiser. The bike itself needs a few things already took care of the brakes and a rear tire, gripper seat and new handguards are coming in this week.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I'm going to try and brave the cold and hit some trails this weekend with any luck. I haven't really thought about joining any clubs, might have to look into it. I'll definitely be getting an atv registration this spring so me and the guys can hit up Thomaston Dam and Pachaug State Forest. We usually ride in North Haven, Branford, or Wolcott, but a guy at work knows of a few other spots out towards the Seymour area. Looking forward to this being the third year in which we will be heading down to Hatfield-McCoy trails as well. We have just started planning the trip and haven't yet nailed it down to which spot we want to ride. We usually spend about a week there this year we hit Buffalo Mountain, and last year we rode Indian Ridge and Pocahontas.

welcome aboard. Lots of good folks here who are willing to share their expertise. We just had 20 centimeters of snow and several hours of freezing rain. No riding for us for several months.

Took my son's 05 200 into the shop this week to upgrade the fork springs to 42s and put on new rubber as the rubber is original and about 1/2 worn out. Putting on Bridgestone 404 and 403s. Always think its important for the kids too have good brakes and good rubber. Lord knows the throttle works.
Whoa that was close!!! Damn kid is too fast for me to try and keep up to.
