Bar recommendations

Post by dingerjunkie »

Hello All. Coming here with the latest question.

I'm getting ready to order bars for the 250-D project and am really unsure on bend. I know the chassis is longer than the 200, which is why I'm looking for input in the bike-specific area.

Okay...5'11", expecting to stand 80-90% of the time. Want to get weight forward, so thinking about something with not too much pull-back. Something that is relatively narrow, or will cut down without running into bark-buster install issues, as I'll be running in tight trees and single-track fairly regularly.

Running a KX-shorty front brake line with '92 KX forks, so I can't get too crazy on height without running into brake line length issues.

Given all that, what are the recommendations? Trials bends? Mini-high bends? Are their risers/fat-bar mount options that will work with these older T-clamps that would be recommended?

As usual, all input is greatly appreciated.

Renthal makes 1 1/8" bar mounts. Pro Taper and others make them.

Many thanks, Jason...any recommendations on a bend preference, all things considered?

I'll continue to dig. I'll pay most attention to the open-class guys I guess, since this bike is so physically big compared to much that I sit on at the dealerships today.

I highly recommend the pro taper cr-high bend cut to your desired width. This bar is the industry standard and most mags put this on all the bikes when doing a shoot out. I'm thirty and I have run this model since I was sixteen and it is the best middle of the road bend. It has little sweep and medium rise(disregard the name of the bend) which will help keep your elbows yup and you over the front of the bike.

Also pro taper makes a fat bar conversion kit that bolts onto stock upper and only raises the bar 3/4"
