Anyone running a flywheel weight on a 250mx

Post by s10gto »

Just ordered one for my YZ. Looking forward to how it goes compared to stock. I ride technical New England single track with just a gnarly pipe and v-force reeds. She does well but hopefully this weight will calm her down a little.

I had one on a 1995 KX 250 , I forgot how many oz. weight. Stock with a sparky and spot on jetting.
I loved it, more tractable and easier to control especially when I got tired.
I raced a little desert with it and did mostly trail riding.

I was a novice racer (1997-99)) and am a pretty ok trail rider.
(95 KX250 was a midrange motor) .

We put a pretty heavy one on a buddies yz250. Rode that thing for years before he finally sold it. It definitely made it more tractable in the woods, and much more enjoyable to ride. Good mod. I wish I'd bought that bike from him.

I put one on a CR250, just as tmmyghst said, way more tractable. It made the power more managable and suited my riding style, also made it a holeshot weapon. If I were to buy another two stroke mx'er adding a flywheel weight would be one of the first mods I would do(after suspension).

Thanks everyone! I installed a 11 oz. I have only done a quick test ride in a small trail in the back yard but so far I like it. I left the clutch out and lugged the engine down with the rear brake and she just tractored right along.
