I'm rebuilding a 2000 kx250 and I'm going to run the front brake line like the Hondas used to instead of underneath the fork leg like it is stock. Which set of kx fork protectors (or protectors of another brand bike) are a direct bolt on that have the brake line holder built in? I figured since a bunch of you have kx forks on your bikes someone would know. Thanks!

Run the KDX line for the "CR Style" conversion.

I used some off a RM worked ok just had to make a little spacer up for down the bottom so that the holes would line up
then the KDX brake line fits straight on :supz:

Cheers Phil

I am assuming he is not working on a KDX, so I moved this to the "other bikes" section.

Thanks Jason. I knew I'd get a few quick replies if I put it here rather than straight to the other bike section. I have a 03 kx250 brake line since they were run Honda style from the factory, but I need a fork guard with the metal hose holder built onto it to keep my hose from being eaten by the wheel. The 03 kx guards have different mounting styles at the bottom so in not using them .

It shows 2003 in your post, as far as brake line being run.

2004 was the first year for the "Honda" style brake line being run that way on USD forks. Honda had a patent that ran out. I don't know if any USA guards from an OEM would be Honda-style before 2004.

I think Cycra used to make a "Honda-style" guard for YZ's, so maybe other companies made them for other models of bikes.

You can use your existing guard and just make a "L" shaped bracket to bolt the brake hose clamp to. Pop rivot the L bracket to the guard, bolt the line clamps on and your done. You have to trim the upper fork guard guide off. Ive done this a bunch of times converting 03 KXs to CR style brake line routing. More recently I did it to a 99 KLX300. Its held up through many enduros and trail rides.

Thanks all! I'm just getting around to painting the frame so it'll be awhile before I'm rerouting brake lines.

I actually solved this problem by using a 2001 cr125 front brake line. I ran it kdx style behind the fork leg instead of the kx style underneath the fork leg. I didn't need a holder since the hose hugs the fork guard as it wraps around the leg. I did the same on my 02 kdx that I had upside down fork on. The hose never moved nor was in any danger of being grabbed by the wheel.
