Exhaust systems
Does anyone know if a 1986 KDX200 expansion chamber will fit the 1983 - 85 KDX without the power valve cylinder? Anyone tried it as new aftermarket expansion chambers for the first KDX200s seem to be non existent.

Short answer, No.
Long answer,
I bought a '87 P/V bike with a non P/V motor in it (they swap over readily) and the '87 pipe had been modified a bit at the barrel as the angle of the port outlet is slightly different.
I also tried to fit that tidy '87 P/V model pipe on my '83 and it wouldn't fit right either.
My '83 Pipe is pretty rooted now so I'm going to have another go at putting the '87 pipe on it and see how much I need to change to get it to fit.
Sellers pic.

Re: Exhaust systems
Is that an '88?
It is neat to see the shock reservoir on the other side of the frame tube.

Yep built in '87 but you're right, an '88 model.
This part of the frame is different so we have somewhere to mount our battery.

Thanks Jason.
This ones about 80% done. Still have bolts to plate and restore the front wheel.
We have front and rear brake light switches, blinkers, electric horn, mirrors and lights as normal to comply for Australian rego requirements.

Re: Exhaust systems
Is the cover bracket top bolt incorrect? I think in the USA it was a very large round head screw.
In the USA, the KDX enters the country as off-road only, but each state has different rules on whether it can be used on road. For example, in my state, one can not register a KDX, and one does not have to have blinkers.
