1980 KDX 175 Carburetor size

Post by mikeikedc »

Can anyone tell me the size of the original carburetor or equivalent mikuni VM model. The aftermarket one that came on mine is a mikuni VM34. I am thinking it is too big.

Thanks
Mike

IIRC it was a Mikuni 34 with round slide. the 81 got the oval slide 34.

If I am reading the parts diagrams correctly, it is the same slide for all three.

Maybe it was pre-80 had the round slide, it's been ages since we had a KDX175 in the stable (since 1993 when my dad sold his 81 175 and bought the E model he still rides today)

I've got a few 175's and they all have the same round slide carb on them.

From the manual.
