Need parts for 87 KDX 200 for refresh

Post by rocks2roots »

Hi, I just picked up an 87 KDX-200 in good mechanical shape. The forks and rear shock were rebuilt (so I'm told) but it looks like it needs a rear spring and I can't find it online (yet). I found some '88, but not 87. I'm also like to pick up the torque some if possible. All I've heard is "Boysen Reeds" so i'd really like to hear from some KDX riders! Thank you ! Travis

Welcome to kdxrider.

Why do you think it needs a rear spring?
Thank you for participating on kdxrider.net. :bravo:

Need parts for 87 KDX 200 for refresh

There's very little difference between the '86 to '88 power valve 200's.

I rode this one (got it as a non running bike from the back of someone's shed) on the weekend and had a great time on it with very little preparation to the bike.

I've been told a kips spacer plate is the go for more torque but am yet to try it for myself.

When l first got it running :-)

In relation to the spring, the shocks from '83 to 88 on the 200's and 250's interchange so if you did need a spring, finding something won't be difficult.
You might like to set up the rear suspension spring sag and shock damping first.
