1980 KDX175 Flywheel puller (??)

Does anyone know what type/size of puller I need to order to pull the flywheel?

Hi. I don't have my manual handy, but I imagine it is the kind that is a big plate with holes and bolts are threaded into the holes on the side.

If so, you can actually use a steering wheel puller with some washers and 6mm bolts. Also, there may be a need for a socket head bolt to thread into the crankshaft end to allow the big bolt to spin against. (greased top)

It worked on my '87. The 1989 and newer ones have a 27 mm x 1.0 mm left hand thread, but the older full sized air cooled ones don't have that one.

Just be sure to check the crankshaft end. Put a socket head bolt in there, then grease on the head to keep the puller from gouging the end of the crankshaft.
