86-88 DG pipe

Post by kdx87 »

Hi guys,

This is my first post, but i had to ask this. Has anyone noticed the wrong offset of the DG expansion chamber? As in say you were sitting on the bike facing forward on the 86-88 the expansion chamber comes up on your right side and then the stinger goes above you battery and to the muffler, but when i go on DG's website to look at the matching expansion chamber for 86-88 it goes up to the left side where the airbox would be? and the 84-85 comes up on the right side, is it just me or whats the deal here? Also are DG and FMF the only manufactures that made expansion chambers for these bikes? finding an FMF fatty for the 86-88 years is far to difficult here in Australia.

The pictures on the site are wrong.

DMC used to make a pipe long ago. PSI or Krause may have made a pipe. If you can't find an FMF, then don't worry about finding anything else. DG is the only one still made. FMF stopped a while back.

Thanks Jason for you reply

I contacted DG a while ago with no reply, So now if i want to order the 86-88 pipe do i go on the website and select that one that actually says 86-88 despite having images from the previous 2 years? Also any idea on how the performance would be over stock and compared to the FMF pipe? Also i was thinking of combining the DG pipe with the universal FMF silencer any thoughts on this?

Are you able to just call them?

If you are not in a rush, I can call them for you, then report back.

I have never tried to fit the two parts together. Are you talking about the FMF universal spark arrestor or is there a silencer, too? I have seen the FMF universal spark arrestor. It looks nice.

I think it would be great if you could call them Jason, I'm having issues here ringing from Australia, im in no rush, i was thinking that the combination of the universal spark arrestor from fmf and the DG pipe would defiantly wake the bike up. it should also pass noise tests for when i get it plated.

OK.

I assume DG just has the pictures wrong. They have been around forever.
