5.2, 5.4, 5.6 rear susp spring

Post by bultaco4ever »

Anyone have a rear shock spring that they don't need? 5.2 or 5.4 or maybe 5.6 would work. The stock spring is a 4.8 and is good for 150 lb riders....I put a 5.0 on from a '97 220 that I used to own.....I'm a big boy....I could use a 5.4.

5.6 or even 5.8.

My '94 has 5.3 @ 235 pounds. ROUGHLY, ROUGHLY 25 pounds per 0.2 Kg.

Don't forget to balance the bike with proper fork springs.

By the way, the stock spring is 4.6 on 1989 - 1994.
4.8 on KDX250 and 5.0 on 1995+.

Different linkage will affect it some, as far as suitability.

I snagged a 5.8 spring from a 09 klx250t. Got the whole shock for 50 bucks on ebay. I'm. 270 and it's borderline according to. Racetech I. Need a 6.2

Did you check your sag numbers? That is going to tell you if a spring is too soft or too stiff. I can't see a 6.2 being correct. He has a 1989 - 1994 model, if you missed it, as we are in the "KDX 200 E series" subforum. Shock spring rate requirements are a little different on the 1995+ models.
