2 o rings on output shaft?

Post by Friedom »

really? They're beside each other?
I put one on each end of the collar. You know, since I know better than Kawasaki and all.
Noticed a good bit of oily stuff being flung from the chain today. I lubed it, but not sure I lubed it THAT much.
Are those o rings and that collar accessible without splitting the case? Strong magnet maybe?
92143 and 92055 being the parts in question. Image

Yes. Look twice, assemble once?

Needle noise pliers to get the collar off.

Good news - looks like it's not leaking after all. I just over lubed the chain with ATF.

ATF?? Something is better than nothing, but chain lube is better for chains than ATF.

Not around here. We have really fine dust(grit) in the air, and lots and lots of sand and dry dirt (desert). It all sticks to chain lube, but there are conditioners in the ATF that are kind of dirt-phobic. So it slings it off instead of caking it on. I use it on both of my bikes and it has been working quite well.
I don't run o ring chains as said grit and sand chews up the rings.
So for my purposes and location, cheap non o ring chains, pressure wash to clean, WD40 to get the water out(Water Displacement formula 40) and ATF to lube. Super cheap, but hey - it's a 20 year old dirtbike.

I find that the X-rings last great out here. The one I'm running now is the one from my old '90 KDX and it's still going strong. I literally have lubed it twice since it was first installed. Lube is the enemy here in the dez.

Noted! If they can handle your riding, they can handle mine!
