Steel KIPS valves finally coming - sorry for the wait

Post by Gotanubike »

Has anyone been able to order these within the last 3-4 weeks? I pre-ordered in February and still haven't even had mine shipped yet...

First my webshop order somehow went unnoticed, leading to a delay then they ran out of bushings over two weeks ago...I was promised to have them in my hands by last Friday

Brock? Hello???

edit: So James took care of the order..shipped them out next day after I sent him and email asking what was up :bravo:

Another happy customer

Post by JimInColorado »

I placed my order on October 6
It was at Heathrow Airport on October 7
Arrived in Los Angeles , California on October 9
Delivered to me just outside of Denver, Colorado on October 13
This is fast service. :bravo:

BDK Race Engineering had the parts ready to be shipped at the airport the next day.
The majority of elapsed time was my package making its way from California to Colorado.
You can track the package: https://www.royalmail.com/track-your-item

The parts are machined beautifully and even have the timing marks punched in for installation.

Thank you Brock for manufacturing a "No longer available" part for the KDX 200 E1

A very satisfied customer, Jim

Would these valves work on a 1987 KX 125?

I'm afraid not. We have found a solution for the 1988 KX125 F1 but we have not had the opportunity to evaluate solutions for the 1987 bike.
For this we would need:
Barrel, head, linkages, stops.

If someone did send you the barrel, head, stops, etc...how long would it take for the valves to become reality?

I wish I could give a definite answer but without seeing what is needed that's very difficult indeed.

In the event that we can adapt what we have here in terms of valves then somewhere around two weeks for us to get to it.
If it necessitates making a fresh valve entirely then we will most likely abandon because it would not be financially viable.

Truly there probably aren't enough of these bikes around to justify its own production run - especially in view of the fact that the KX's changed almost every single year being a true race bike.

Nothing ventured though......

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on as set for my 91 basket case... Of course it has the broken LH valve... I just wanted to confirm from those that purchased the steel set that all is well, and everything is as advertised and expected...

Thanks bultaco4ever, I placed an order on January 19th. I'm looking forward to the valve replacements... Based on your experience and some other reviews, I expect to be able to put the new to me 91 KDX back into service.

Hi there Garry,
These are still available but sadly they do not fit the 'H' models.
We did have the foresight to buy one of each and a bush for that model but they are still available (in ally) as original parts and we haven't had more than one or two ask so far so we haven't gone ahead with them as yet. We will only be doing the left and right valves in the same way at least at first when we eventually do them.
In the meantime you can buy NOS parts of them here:
http://www.cmsnl.com/kawasaki-kdx200-h4 ... ml#results
A bit salty at 55Euro/each without tax and postage costs but that said they look like they should be significantly less prone to damage than the 'E' model versions and KMX200 due to the smaller valve diameter and thicker stem.
In case you don't know the main thing with these Kwaka valves is to thoroughly dig out the crap from the hole the bottom locating peg sits in (why exactly it's needed I still can't fathom - in my mind it's just asking for trouble but ours not to reason why) as this gets predictably full of carbon and oil mix and pinches the peg until it seizes in position - don't ever inspect the piston without inspecting and cleaning that hole!

Hope this helps just a little bit,

Brock
