I just recently picked up a kdx for cheap off Craig's list and after cleaning carb etc because it was sitting for a long time, I took it for a couple rips and it starts right up runs like a beast in low 2 mid but it seems when I get high in rpm it doesn't feel and different than mid just revs higher. I have been riding my 450 for the last couple months and I also have a done up blaster.. Could it just be me expecting more? All stock other than power core silencer. Are the kdx motors just not power monsters up top when stock?
Thanks
Nick

I'm by no means an expert, but maybe it's time for a new top end or more likely your power valves are gone.

Sounds like stripped or broken sub-valves.

Yep, I would bet money on at least one of the sub-valves are trashed.

So this means that I am screwed ? Or can I keep riding it? My understanding is that they no longer make that part

Well the first step is going to be confirmation. You can pull the exhaust and look into the cylinder while operating the PV rod by hand.
