Another hybrid

I have a complete 04 kx 125, and a complete 03 kdx200, both running bikes. What real big issues am I gonna run into when I put the 200 into the 125?

I've done two '04 hybrids and there is a recent '05 hybrid. I think there may be one or two '03's.

Just read those threads to get all the info you are looking for. If you have a specific question, I'll try to help.

I just completed my first using an 05 KX and an 02 KDX220, I didn't have any big issues. Like Ted pointed out, there are great tips in various threads on this site.

The toughest items for me was making the head stay bracket and doing the mode on the air box (we used KX box with KDX booth). I say tough but really only a little more time consuming thats all. Overall my build was much easier than we initially thought it would be. Go for and good luck!!

Well it is complete. And as everyone said, it IS like it was made to be in there. Very easy, pretty painless, and can be done in 4 days. I plan on tearing it down over the winter for a real paint job, but all else is complete.
Thank you to everyone here for all the great tips and photo's

No I didn't even try it. It runs or feels like it runs so much better. That will prolly be a project for after race season, but I will

Lets hope this works. I am learning all this internet stuff. The whole project only took 4 days counting tearing down both bikes. I did cheat on the frame painting(it is still race season). But I do encourage anyone trying this that it re4ally isnt that bad. Thanks for everyone's help and info. It only loaded one pic so you will have to click on "view album" to see the other

Looks good. I don't think I've seen anyone use the factory pipe. Did you have to do any work on it to make it fit?

The pipe fit well except for the 125 skid plate had to be trimmed a bit. I will add a pipe. I already changed the silencer to a kx 250 fmf. The tank was one I had got used from a mx guy, so cant honestly tell you what brand it is. It did fit alot better than the factory tank, more petcock clearance.

The 38mm carb is too big for the KDX. Most end up using the KDX airbox as well making the KDX carb an even better choice. RB himself mentioned messing around witht the 38mm carb a lot on the KDX, and was never satisfied. Maybe for a pure RPM Screamer like a karting application it would do well.

Thats what I was afraid of, the motor is ported for low rpm. Adding a high rpm carb and exhaust will be pointless without some massive exhaust port work, wich will cost low end. Might aswell stay with a 250 if that power curve is desired. It kinda ruines the whole KDX concept.
