2005 KX/KDX Exhaust

Post by sackxkdx »

So I have a question on silencers. I'm building a hybrid with a 2005 KX chassis and a 2000 KDX220 motor. I have a FMF Desert pipe which look like it will fit fine. My question is about the silencer. I planed on using a FMF Turbine Core 2. I have one off each model KX and KDX. The KX version bend is correct but has a smaller diameter. I have heard a rumor that the KX250 model may be a exact fit. Does anyone have a recommendation on what works best. I have no problem cutting and welding to make it work. But since I purchased the KX125 silencer and can return it for the 250 version, if it will work better.

On my hybrid (2001 220 motor in a 2001 KX125 frame) I currently am running the stock pipe with a KX250 Turbine Core II. The only thing I had to do was trim a bit off the end of the stock pipe where the silencer joins (like .5") and it fit nearly perfectly.

Mine's a 02 and I had to take a little off the silencer(turbine core 2 kx250) and the pipe plus tweak the bend a little. I think they will all be a little different depending on the different engine mounting angles, but you do want the 250 silencer because it will slide into the pipe and you will be able to determine what minor tweaks need to be done.

+1 that's the important bit. the 125 also will not flow enough for the larger 200/220 motor
