Kdx200/Ktm125 hybrid?

Post by kashola »

Was considering a building a hybrid with my 01 kdx 200. Initial thoughts were to use an '03-later kx125. Just found a line on a 01 ktm125sx for the right price. Anyone tried it? Any thoughts?

This is the only thread I know of. Looked promising to begin with... This is a ktm200 chassis, I assume the 125 is pretty similar.

Skimmed through that thread earlier. Just curious if anyone knows how similar the KTM 125 and 200 actually are.

Pretty sure a 125sx and 200sx are identical. The 200 is on a 125 block.

I think it would be a pretty neat build.

I honestly think an '01 KX frame would be a better choice than an '01 KTM frame, though.
Maybe a later ('08+) KTM frame would be good to use, but any jap frame after about '00 is a fine handling package.

I know my '08 KTM took some getting used to. I had to go outside the expected norms for sag and spring rate to get it to handle "japanese". I think the older KTMs were even more "European"

Thanks for the input guys, but I missed out on the deal. Would have been almost a 3 hour drive to pick it up. I hesitated. It sold. Oh well, I'll keep looking I guess. Hopefully patience will pay off in the end.

I would'nt do a KTM conversion they're super finicky to setup in those years my 04 kdx handled better than my 07 KTM and I had 1000 into suspension work.
Did I say riding?
