Hey guys, I can get a 1999 CR125 roller for cheap, looking at doing a hybrid. How different is this from, say, a 2001 or 2002 model? Same suspension or not? Similar frame? Similar handling? I know it's the second year of the alloy frame, but I tried searching this forum and others and couldn't find much about how it compares to the later ones.

Do you think it would be a good choice for a hybrid? Let me know what you think.

first gen Honda alum. frames are brutal as are the early showa tc shocks. Just my opinion, but from having set up a lot of hondas for woods that would not be my choice .

BTW, thanks for the opinion osobad, that's good info. I do live out west, so this would be more of a desert trail bike, some piny woods, but higher speed than eastern woods. My pet peeve is harsh suspension though, so your comments got my attention.

99's frames are brutal as said and beat you up bad. I had the 97cr250 and i regretted buying it.
My conversion is an 03 cr125 and it is pretty good. You can tell the difference between the newer generation frames and the older ones.
