Wheels on kx/dx

Post by Faint333 »

My 2002 kx rims are tweaked and the 2003 kdx rims look to be in much bretter condition. Would the easiest and most cost effective solution be to use the kdx rim / spoke on the kx hubs?

You might be able to use the KDX spokes on the KX hub, but I'd try to take some measurements first before you unlace the wheel. I bought a SS spoke set to use the 18" KDX rim on the KX hub, I don't remember the exact cost, but it wasn't too bad.

Not sure about the front wheel, I've only put a KDX rim on a KX hub on the back.

Oh, so you're just running the stock kx front? On my bike the front is the major culprit (kx rim) gives me a kind of bouncy ride when on roads. Haha.

Yep. I thought we were talking about hybrids.

The rear rim off the KDX will probably go right on with the right spacer combo. Measure from the rotor to the sprocket and take the same measurement on the other wheel.

The KX front spokes are probably larger and the KDX spokes will most likely be too small to fit the KX hub.

Yeah, I did a quick test fit and kdx goes on no problem with the kx spacers. The front wheel is a completely different animal though. So I'm looking to sell both my kdx and kx front wheels, and have a 99 kx250 wheel to pick up on craigslist.

I know it's an old thread but I just mounted a complete 1997 kx 250 rear wheel on my 2002 kdx 200. Bolted straight on looks perfect. I wonder if the swing arm would bolt up as easy.

No. Different bolt diameter and width.
Read the hybrid recipe and you'll see the difference.
Part 3 I think.

Bummer I really wanted that big square swing arm and the rear shock with that violet colored spring ( 190# )on the KDX.
