2001 CR 250 with E series KDX motor?Better than 125 chassis?

Post by Terrence Sprocket »

So I have a chance to pick up a great shape 2001 CR 250 complete rolling chassis. I think it's prob a good candidate to build my E series MX hybrid. Any thoughts? I've read on a couple articles that I would need to do the following ( but these are based on the cr125 chassis):

Grind down the insides of swingarm for the rear motor mount.
Ream the rear motor mount hole on motor for swingarm pivot shaft to slide through.
Fab up a bracket to connect front motor mount.
Cut and weld (aluminum tig) bottom motor mount to match KDX motor location.
May have to relocate cylinder head rad hose.
May need CRF petcock ( bolts to frame rather than tank)
Need to extend airbox-carb boot.
And of course, have a field day with pipe fabing.

This is all based off of what I've read about building the 01 cr125 hybrid. I'm not to sure if anything will be different with the 01 cr250 chassis. Do any of u guys know? Has anyone ever used the 01 250 chassis? Or just 125 chassis? Also is there anything else I might have missed? Any input or experience would be great. Please remember that it's the E series KDX 200 motor that I'll be using ( '89 E-1). Thanx....
KDX ALL THE WAY!
