Hell yeah! If you would like to squeeze in a ride just bring your gear. I can probably rustle up a bike for ya.

Don't think I'll be able to, I work in the airline industry so I travel light as we fly down on Employee passes, but if you're still down for a beer I'd like to meet up! :supz:

I work for an airline too. You have to learn some tricks...like wearing yoiur helmet during the flight so you don't have to worry about checking it or fitting it in the overhead bin.

Sounds good even without the ride. Let me know when you are in town.

KDX250af

Post by SS109 »

Wow, been a while since I thought about this build. I have been enjoying the 200 so much I just pushed it to the back of my mind. However, this past weekend, I finally felt the need for more power. I just cannot hang with anything 250 or bigger in the sand washes and it certainly wouldn't hurt to have more low end power on some of the gnarly hill climbs I find myself taking on. The 200 will still run with, and can pass, anything in the singletrack but, any time things open up, the guys on bigger bikes just pull away from me. So, the KDX250AF project is getting ready to pick up speed! I will try to keep everyone updated as I move along especially since I think I'm the first to do an AF build here at KDXrider.

Man this project is inspiring me to start keeping my eyes peeled for a KX chassis myself! Was just wondering this morning if I should aim to invest some cash into a complete rebuild of my E series bike and jazz it up with some new suspension, engine rebuild and mods and new plastics etc or if I just save up some more to get a whole new bike... Now it looks as though I might one day have an AF conversion in my future! :partyman:

Please post regular updates, I think you're really starting a trend here!

:hmm: Ooooooooook. I have never heard someone refer to a KDX/KX hybrid as a KX200.

Anyways, yes, I have ridden a hybrid. Why?

There have been a few AF builds but most all involve CR frames, none with a KX frame yet that i've seen. Can't wait to see it get started. How about an old KDX400/420/450 air cooled motor in a new KX frame? That would be awesome.

Yes, but they were all done with 200/220's. I'm building 250 AF conversion! I would love to see someone build a KDX400/420/450 hybrid. Maybe if I get the chance I will! Of course, I would love to find an '88 KDX200 engine to build a hybrid with. Power valves yet still air cooled, in a KX125 frame, would be an awesome technical terrain bike!

Too much going on for my tastes. Think I'm just going to go with the modern green and black. Cheap and simple.

Thanks. It don't look anywhere near that nice now after two years of hard off road use. I'm glad I took pics when I did!
