KDX 4 stroke hybrid help

Post by Eagle981 »

Sorry if this is the wrong place to be asking but it seems the most logical place for me to find advice. I am thinking of putting a 4 stroke 250cc engine from a 1982 Suzuki SP250 into a 1980 KDX 250 bike. Has anyone done anything similar or have any thoughts (other than complaints of blasphemy lol) about this idea?

That sounds just downright WRONG.

Go for it! I'm game for all freaky cross breeds. However, I know absolutely nothing about either of the bikes you listed. But how hard can it be??

Major considerations include swingarm pivot/engine case compatibility, sprocket alignment, frame clearance for taller head of the 4 stroke, and the airbox. Things like engine mounts are easy. Doing the pipe will be a little harder. Getting sprockets, airbox, and swingarm to align and work are the tough parts. Start there. Then show us pics of the progress!
