Post by jbowens2401 »

I expect to get my head and carb back tomorrow. Can you guys give me some information on how to find the SSS?

Thanks,

John

So I got everything back together and took the bike out for about 20 minutes (would have been longer but the neighbors don't like it too much). I found the 1st sweet spot by following ron's directions (with the bike warm, blip the throttle in neutral and tweak out any bog, then while moving blip the throttle in 2nd and look for the best response), and man the bike runs great and pulls so much harder than before. It was easy to find...heck he pretty much had it set right out of the box. So then I go to 2.5 turns out looking for the SSS and the bike would bog really bad when I got on the throttle, went to 2 turns out and did the same. I know that I need to make very small changes (1/16 to 1/32 of a turn) but sould it run this rough if I'm in the ballpark? The bike is a kdx 220 w/ head and carb mod...current setup is 150 MJ, 40PJ, and CEK #3. Temp was about 36 F and riding at sea level.

Thanks,

John

It is very sensitive to find... you are making far too large of leaps.

Yeah, I just didn't have time to play with it too much today. I was just wondering if all around the SSS runs pretty rough. When I get to take it out for a real ride, I will start at 2.5 and make 1/16 adjustments until I find it. Out is leaner and in is richer right?

Thanks, since I'm getting a huge bog around 2.5 should I change the clip position from 3 to 4 and start the process from there. Temp is around 36 F right now, so maybe I should drop to 4 and go back to 3 when the weather warms up.

Thanks again,

John
