Carb & Head Mod

Post by Green Hornet »

I sent my 33mm carb out to Ron today, by USPS Priority Mail & the 220 Head I bought on Ebay for $25. The seller was in Vancouver Washington, So I had it shipped to Ron, after he OK'd that I could do that. I think it arrived there already (UPS showed Out For Delivery). I still have the 35mm on the bike, so I'll put that aside when the Re-Mod'd parts come back. Now I have to replace the head gasket again. Does'nt have an 1hr. ride time on it. Oh Well

With that little ride time on it i'd just be careful pulling it off and reuse it GH.

Use CopperCoat or just plain 'ol chrome aluminum (aluminum chrome?) paint on the old gasket...you will be fine. Just make sure the surfaces are clean!! Let whatever is used dry to at least tacky (don't put it on dripping wet).

Well, reuse it assuming you don't tweak it like your KIPS shaft!!

Its a Cometic Gasket kit I put on. I'll have a back up in case. If I buy it, I will not need it, If I DON'T then I'll need it. But I'll look for that "chrome aluminum"
Where do ya get that stuff CC?

Ooops. I left out the 'Krylon' part.

So...anywheres Krylon is sold..prolly WalMart, or about a brazillion other outfits.

The CopperCoat stuff is a Permatex product. Any autoparts store will have it...and maybe Wally's auto department, too.

If you re-use your head gasket, be sure to rub off the rubbery stuff on it before applying the copper coat or paint. Apply tacky as CC points out. I've reused mine this way without any problems.

Do you apply to BOTH SIDES or just the Top or Bottom of the Gasket??
