Clutch wear/longevity after RB carb and head mods

Post by lucy »

How well does the OEM clutch hold up after RB designs carb and head mods?

Did you have to replace the clutch soon after because it was overwhelmed by the increase in HP? Did you have much clutch slippage?

(I know you can replace it with a heavier springs and upgraded clutch plates. )

If it was in good shape to begin with, I wouldn't worry too much as you're not adding that much horsepower. Depending on the bottom end power increase, you might have to slip the clutch a little less. (The modifications could, at least in theory, help the clutch wear a little bit.)

I wouldn't even think it a consideration, honestly. It's not like you're adding a turbo or NOS.

I beat the snot out of the clutch. Flicking it like machine gun on steeps sometimes. It will start screaming like an eagle after a real good technical hill climb, but I've come to the conclusion that it's normal, and everything is perfectly fine. I could be wrong. This bike has everything done down to port work. 3 seasons and it holds power just fine. I wouldn't worry about it, just make sure adjustment is good.

Clutch wear/longevity after RB carb and head mods

Don't want to steal the thread, but it's rb related so here goes. Anyone feel the need to change the gearing after the carb/head mod? I'm finding 1st gear almost useless now!
