RB head and carb at sea level

Post by bond343 »

hello,

just got the RB Airstriker carb and head mod for my 89 kdx200. i'm running the boyseen reeds and a fmf pipe.

i live in Texas at sea level on the coast, very hot and humid.

carb came jetted with 150 main, 40 pilot, air screw - 7/8 out, cek-3 needle.

the bike seems like it should be much more snappy and isn't revving out great, but i'm not sure if it's the jetting or the powervalve. i haven't had time to work on it since putting the carb on and giving a test ride to ensure if the powervalve is working or not but that is easy enough

Just curious who else out there runs a RB carb and head mod at sea level where it's hot and humid and where you've settled on for your jetting.

thanks a bunch guys

braaaaaap!

I don't have a full answer for you yet - but I'm in Corpus,(same texas coast), and mine was jetted the same - and my reaction was the same. It is now up to a 155 and I think I still might need more. Brand new gas will go in it this weekend - but it is still weak on top,(no surging, just weak). Won't lift the front end in any gear - so its not right. If I get closer, I'll let you know. We did up the Pilot, and may have to go back down on the main.
