Tires - Pirelli MT16

I've put about 100 miles on a Pirelli MT16 rear tire and WOW! What a difference! That tire sticks to everything. Rocks, roots, muck, hardpack - everything!

It has been raining here in New England for most of the month of May - and every day for the last week. We got one day of sunshine and I hit the trails with a buddy. There were spots where conditions couldn't have been much worse - water saturated hills with criss crossing roots and slimy rocks everywhere. I was able to motor up every one of them with no problem. Never would have made it past the first hill with those garbage stock Dunlops. The next day went out again and got caught in the rain. I was wheeling up rock washes. Amazing what a difference a good tire makes.

Five stars - definitely recommended.

What model Dunlop was it?

It was the stock 739. Not at all an Eastern conditions tire.

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering how well that tire would do. By the way, what year model is your bike and what size?

Thanks.

680 total miles. I think it's got about another 150 and it's done. Traction has definitely dropped off in the last few rides. Still hooking up pretty good in the rocks though.

Not to bad really. I'll buy another one.

What size is that MT 16 your running in the rear?
What are you running up front?
I am getting crazy confused as to which tire to buy for my new 220. You are definitely correct in that the stock Dunny's suck!

Try the Dunlop 756 or Mich. S12
Great for the NE

Ordered up the Pirelli MT 32 rear in a 120/100-18 and the MT 44 front 80/100-21
Went with the rear based on a wicked review on Thumper Talk and also personal recommendation from Mr. KDX, Jeff Fredette.
I am going to switch the rear out for an MT 16 once summer comes.

I have a MT44 front and love it. Inda's old EXC had the 44 front, but I don't remember which rear....Nice combo.

I run a 756 dunlop on the front, and a 773 on the back. Here in mich. we have a lot of sand and rocky ,and rooted trials, with some med, to hard dirt too. They work good for me. Dose any one else use this combo?

I have been running the MT 16 since the early part of the summer. It rules!
The 110 is the way to go for me and the way I like to ride. I love speed in technical sections and I like to get to the bottom of mud instead of sliding across the top. The 110 digs in and grabs what ever is hard at the bottom and keeps me going straight. I am running the 44 front and will never deviate from this combo.
I have about 600 miles or more on the two and will probably try to squeek out a few more rides before storing the bike for the winter. Fresh set ready to spoon on for spring. :supz:
