Devol VS Scott's

Post by plb »

Well, Scott's saids their rear disc guard is 400% strongest thant the others and I believe them!!!

I change my Devol for a Scott's: no more spacer and a little metal sheet!!!
The SCOTTS Sharkfin is 3/8" thick billet 6061 aluminum. It was the first shark fin that incorporates the brake caliper carrier as an integral part of the function. This means the axle passes throught the shark fin making it virtually indestructable and your brake rotor protected from defeat.

Pretty convincing PLB. Scotts should get you to do their ads.

How easily does the Scotts install? It's a very expensive product, obviously in the photos looks way better than the Devol. Mine would be for a 2002 KDX 220R. Thanks,

I used Scotts for years, and even bought a matching Topar for the front of my Berg.

But now that money is an issue, the Devol makes more sense to me.

The Scotts is easy to install.

And do you think it has ever been needed?

I have the scotts on my 2000 kdx and it is perfect. No hassel changing the wheel. I tend to ride in pretty rocky places and I have gouged the hell out of it but it is still just as straight as when I put it on. I bought mine used for $20 but it is worth the full price.

That's why I took off all of my plastic, skid plate, seat and air box. Just to keep the mud off. I would like to find a way to run with out the tires or frame so I won't have to wash as much when I get home.

A 1 liter water bottle works great as a gas tank too, taste like crap afterwards though. But you can toss it after the ride so you wont have to wash it.

My old man bent his front rotor (and had a terrible get off) on his KLX300 about 7 years ago, which ended his riding days all together. He had a plastic guard, and I think the Topar guard would have stopped that.

I've had and hammered many Scotts and Devol guards over the years, but I do live and ride in Boulder City. I've never worn out a Scotts to the point it needed replacing, but I could see that my Devol might need replacing every few years. Still cheaper though.

Went through three skid plates on my old Husky, what the hell is mud any way?

I just put a Devol on my hybrid and have found gouges and nicks all over it. I think I need it. The scotts looks nice...
