Ebay Gripper Seat Cover

Well I got my gripper seat cover finaly off Ebay. It was the '95-'99 model. Fair warning. When they say it will fit just those years listed they mean it! I put mine on a '03 model and let me tell ya, it was a fight. A fight that took over an hour to get it to fit. Seem the front section of the '95-'99 KDX seats are some what flatter or they are longer seats, don't know which. The back of the cover went on pretty much no problem, but where the front of the seat curves up I had multitudes of problems. It was basicaly not made for my year as they stated but I thought I'd give it a try anyways. I finaly got it after alot of messaging, pulling and cussing. My arms felt like rubber afterwards but it's on there and I like it. It's still not as tight around the front curved portion of the seat but it'll do fine. I don't know how to post the pic right here but I'll have some pics of the new seat cover in the Gallery.

Oh by the way, the material they use is pretty tuff. I was impressed. I tor a couple holes in it underneath the seat where I was stapeling, but it took some pretty strong arming to tear the material. I'd grade the toughness as better than stock at least.

They all go on like that for the KDX's. Here's why: The KDX seat is a big banana, not flat like MX seats are. I"ve put two covers on my KDX and they aren't easy. Mine is a '99. The curve is what is the big problem. With my KX seat, it was a snap!! Easy peasy. The best way to put on the KDX cover is to have someone sew about 3 inches of heavy cloth or naugahide to it so you can grab it and pull.
Arm pump from putting on a seat cover. Ha!!! Grrrrr!!!!

What areas did you staple first, second, etc.? You know, front, rear, left, right.

I was trying to follow the directions and was going to attach the fropnt and back but that did'nt work. So I attached the back and started stretching the material down and around the edges going forward. When I got to the part of the seat that has the upward curve, thats where it got alittl difficult. I finaly pulled the cover over the front as far as I could then worked the rest oc the cover around the edges on the upward curve of the seat. I finaly got all the wrinkles out but barely. It was a fight.

I put one of those new covers on my old '83 KDx and it was simple as pie. But like Ski said , the KDx's are much harder than the flat seats.

I'm going to try a pic here in a minute.

Thanks for the information. I have never done one, and I am curious about it. I thought I had read somewhere to start in the front, but I am not sure.

I can't figure out how your getting that address. I've tried several different ways. If I right click the smal pic I don't get but two choices in the window, if I right click the large image, it has and address like the last one I posted. I don't see where the .jpg is comming from.

On top of the picture, right click, properties, address (URL), triple click on it, then ALT-C to copy and then go to your post and ALT-V to paste it into the text box. Earlier I mentioned to highlight it by clicking on the address and highlighting it, then copying it. You may find it easier to triple click it, then copy.

Yeh I'm copying it but it's not working that way for me. I've never done it the other way you've mentioned. Of coarse that was on another site not this one, may be different here.
