I put a brand new set of Dunlop at81 front and rear on the hybrid. Long story short, AWESOME, but they don't like anything over 10 psi. Front or back. The front grabs like a mofo, on pretty much any terrain, just not at anything above 10 psi. The rear, a 19" RC model, reinforced sidewall, doesn't even think about it until 8 psi!! Sidewall is so stiff that at 8 psi, baby head sized boulders didn't give me any problems. maxxis IT would give you bent wheel or chunking. Maxxis are great for price, but these are better for a couple bucks more. I'm thinking a tubliss in rear is the TICKET. Stiff sidewall. 12 hours and they are still pretty sharp, IT's would be ready for a flip.

I've tried a lot of tires, if you're looking for a new set, give these skins a shot, not bad at all.

Maxxis Desert IT would probably be the most direct comparison. I ran a 19" on my YZ in Arizona, usually 9 psi or so, never a lick of trouble, lasted a long time. Other tires gave better traction fresh, but required 3-4 psi more, and many couldn't hold knobs. A single ride could destroy some tires.

Anyway, no experience with the new Dunlops, and not trying to say the Maxxis is as good. Just noting that the Desert version is WAY tougher than the standard IT.

I usually run maxxis IT. For the money, and in general, they are probably the way to go. I have them on the KDX, and will continue doing so.

Dunlop doesn't offer a regular 2 ply 19" in the at81, they are all for 18" Bummer cause I am trying to keep the weigh down on my hybrid.

My favorite tires, now discontinued, were the Dunlop D952. WAY better than maxxis from a dig.

I never had good luck with the 952. Seemed like it had really soft sidewalls and required 14-15 psi in the rocks. Knobs wore like mad too, but wouldn't tear, so that's a plus. I felt like any extra traction it'd provide via tread pattern or rubber compound was negated by the fact I needed much higher pressure to keep it from pinch flatting.
