Before I bought the bike this is the needle that was installed, as per the dealer paperwork. What needle is this? I want a DEL or CEL but I am pretty sure this isn't one of those... LOL.

16009-1831 R1173K/2AFKP

many thanks if you can help decipher this.

Stock Kawasaki numbers are not the same as Keihin part numbers.

Look through some of the old threads and see if someone has posted a conversion chart. If you order Keihin parts, it will be BEP, CEL, DEK, etc. Kawasaki needles don't always correspond, but I think the Keihin needles do. I know there is no aftermarket replacement for the 1987 KDX200 for example.

The stock 1173K is equivalent to a BFP. JetsRUs p/n for the CEL is 017-017, the DEL is 017-029.

All the info you need is HERE

There's also a needle conversion guide posted here in this section as a sticky.

I saw the conversion chart but wasn't sure how to read it. Check me if I am wrong. To convert R1173K from the full OEM part number; 16009-1831 R1173K/2AFKP I came up with off the conversion table:

11 = B
73 = P
K = F
BPF

My current KDX has this needle in it and the previous owner installed the FMF Gnarly Woods pipe and FMF silencer on it. Based on other threads I read about the pipe I should have a CEL or DEL needle.

Thanks everyone! I didn't want to purchase something I already had and it looks like I need to place the order for both the CEL and DEL needles. Based on what I also read I think I will end up with a 150/152 main and about a 40 or 42 pilot. I think that is where most fall into. I bought a whole range of jets just in case.

I learned a lot. I appreciate all the answers and feedback.

OK the other chart shows it is in a different order show it should be BFP as per what bufftester linked in his reply. Either way it is not the needle that I was looking for... LOL
