I'm trying to clean up my KDX's jetting but I'm really struggling to achieve smooth power delivery throughout the rev range.
The bottom end power, according to me, is fine. I have never done a plug chop test to check the main jet, but I'm happy with the top-end power.
The big issue is the mid-range power delivery, it sucks balls!
Now my question is should I change the needle in order to achieve a smoother mid-range? Will I be able to fix the issue by changing pilot/main jets?
I know the bike is jetted too rich because after a long ride with lots of half throttle operation the bike spooges everywhere.
Currently I have a BFQ needle in the bike which I believe is quite a lean needle.
Also running a 38 pj, 152 mj and 1:40 2t mix riding at 4000 to 5000 ft

Here's what needles Jeff Freddette recommends:
'89-'94 R1173N
'95- R1174K & 2AFKQ needle jet
but those are for riding at sea level. You would need even leaner.

Re: Tell me more about needles
According to my knowledge, a R1174K is a BFQ needle.Jaguar wrote:Here's what needles Jeff Freddette recommends:
