You know that little white plastic sleeve at the bottom of the slide return spring? It has a little notch on the inside that slides into the screw thing that screws to the slide valve. Flip it upside down and now the spring sits higher putting better preload tension on the spring.
I just got finished replacing my throttle cable and even though the cable needed replacing, there was still a considerable lack in throttle *snap*, which I partially blame for the throttle sticking open on me last fall! Here are some pics:

As you can see about 3/4 of an inch of extra preload on the spring and gives the throttle considerable more snap
