Personally... I like the 96's over any newer forks... I have 03 KX 125 forks on mine. While the design is nice, I think they are too stiff for woods riding. I prefer a little flex and 48mm tubes don't do that too well. 46mm are a little more compliant.

95's are a good fork too as I imagine your 91's are. You did gain rebound... and that's agood thing. Don't take everything on here as being in your face. We like to have a little fun too...

A brief hi-jack.

I've been making some progress on my '04 forks. With just base valve changes, I've softened up the forks quite a bit for the woods. I'm currently working on some changes to test on the midvalve. I'm hoping I can do away with the last bit of harshness with those changes. I'll let you know how I end up, I think the '03 forks are the same.

i understand what your saying.........i know these forks are ALOT better than the kdx forks........because i have rode the bike with both! i rode my buddy's kx 250 the other weekend, and liked the way his rode, and it didnt bottom on everything, sooooo, i measured everything, and bought a 91, and swaped the forks.

91's are 43mm... if yours aren't they are not 91's.
Yours clearly show underhang....
I have not seen the bottom of your forks but I am pretty sure from my experience with 95 forks that there is no clickers under there... this is the only thing that I could be mistaken about but the burden of proof would be on you at this point...

We are past that now.... I posted above that I did check. Sorry for that one oversight.... Everything else remains the same however. I'm sure they do feel better than the KDX forks....

The big overhang on the stock forks likes to grab rocks. roots and ruts as you're negotiating the rough stuff - and usually at exactly the wrong moment.

Hi Tedh98, mine is a 05 KX125 48mm fork. I know you have been trying to soften up the fork. How do you mod the shim stack at the base valve?
what tools do i need? what to look out for? do you have pictures to show how you done it? mine is too stiff and very hash for woods riding. thanks for any infor or tips.

I'll start a separate thread on the details. I'd like to test the changes I just recently made before I post anything. So it may be a few days before I get to do that. I'll let you know when I've got something.
