front disk caliper fitment

Post by twocycle »

I am putting a 1999 KX fork on a 1989 KDX. The KDX caliper bolt holes are approximately 2.5" apart and the KX fork is apporximately 4" apart. I had thought that KDX caliper would work on the KX fork. Am I missing something?

Mine worked flawlessly.... but mine is an H series.... yours is an E series. Others should pipe in who own the E series....

Did you lose your bracket that goes between the caliper and the fork leg?

Are you referring to part number 43044-1034? If so it did not come with my forks.

yup. Usually you keep it on the caliper. When people sell forks it's generally not included unless you're buying the brake too.

The caliper on my KDX bolts directly to the fork. No bracket.

Thank you for all the help.

It looks it takes a 1995 or newer KDX caliper or a 1994 -200? caliper to fit the newer forks.

Correct. The 89-92 used an older single piston caliper. 93+ are actually the same and all will work.
